Introduction for A2 project

Introduction for A2 project
For my A2 media coursework, I will be creating a promotional package for a new film that my group and I will be attempting to create. This includes a teaser trailer on our own “movie”, poster and a magazine front cover all based on our teaser trailer. There are various aspects to consider when making a trailer for a trailer. For example, a suitable genre needs to be decided and the genre we are attempting is horror. This is because it allows my group and I to challenge our creative nature but at the same time there are many typical conventions that can easily be applied whilst creating our very own trailer. Another advantage of horror is that it can have many sub genres easily linked to it. Due to this, I am able to broaden the typical conventions and individualise them by merging them with my own ideas. However, before attempting this, I will prioritise myself to do primary research into horror trailers and watching movies representing exactly what I am attempting to prevail. This is because for me to have more first hand knowledge and understanding of what makes a horror film thrive, for example, I will be able to use more typical conventions in my work which will help portray a professional final product. To create my own trailer, we will be put into groups and thus the work begins into preparing the trailer, for example, we will have to create a storyboard and prepare everything before we start to film. Most importantly, certain aspects that many of the public don’t see as important such as names, mise-en-scene, lighting will have to undergo various market research methods such as questionnaires to help give us an idea of what the public can relate to more and this will allow our promotional package to become more popular.
